Local Current Affairs

Editorial policy

Local Current Affairs aims to be clear about what it knows, how it presents an issue and what readers can do when they spot a problem. Accuracy and independence matter more than sounding certain.

Accuracy and context

We check names, dates, quotations and factual claims against suitable material before publication. We give context where a statement could otherwise mislead, distinguish fact from interpretation and say when information is limited or unclear. A published piece is not a substitute for checking current local requirements or seeking professional advice where that is needed.

Independence and partnerships

Editorial choices are made for readers, not to fulfil a partner's preferred message. Paid, sponsored or partner material is clearly labelled where it appears, and is kept distinct from independent editorial coverage. A partnership does not guarantee favourable coverage or editorial influence.

Corrections

If a reader identifies a factual error, send the article title, the detail in question and any useful supporting context through the Contact page. We review correction requests and, when a change is warranted, correct the text and make the correction clear to readers.

Illustrations

Some illustrations may be generated with artificial intelligence. Illustrations are not documentary evidence, and we take care not to present an illustrative image as a photograph of a real local event or place.
